Solstice bread

Found this, had to share will be making this after i get home from the kids's swimming lessons:)

Solstice Herb Bread:

3 cups of flower
1 tbs. sugar
1 tbs. salt
1 pkg. dry active yeast
2 tbs. chopped fresh chives
2 tbs. chopped fresh rosemary
1 tbs. fresh thyme
2 tbs. oil

1 1/4 cup water

Mix 2 cups of the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in a large bowl. Add herbs, water, and oil. Beat slowly, stirring in remaining cup of flour until smooth. Scrape batter from sides of bowl and let rise in a warm place for 35 minutes or until it doubles in bulk. Punch down and beat with a spoon for about 15 seconds. Place dough in a greased loaf pan, patting down and forming loaf shape with your hands. Cover and let rise again for about 30 minutes or until it again doubles in bulk. Bake at 375 F for 40 to 45 minutes. Brush top with butter and remove from pan to let cool.

You can also prepare this recipe in a bread machine. Follow your manufactures instructions.

Happy Solstice!

  1. That looks, and sounds delicious. I'm about to get on my first attempt at baking regular yeast bread, sans herbies and such.

Going to book mark this to try later, though!

    Joyous Solstice!
