Sage saltwater mouth wash

Okay so recently I've had the lovely adventure of having a tooth pulled. I've had one pulled before but I really don't remember it being anywhere near this painful. It swells and bleeds then after I take what seems to me to be an excess of ibuprofen, it finally goes down only to swell back up and throb in excruciating pain again 4 hours later. I have a medical mouthwash for mouth wounds i'm using morning and at night but in the meantime I wanted to keep it clean when it started throbbing again so I found this in my friends book she had from the 70's.

!/2 cup chopped sage (fresh)
4 cups of water
                                                  2 tablespoons salt

get the water to a boil then shut off the heat
add the sage and let it steep for 15-30 minutes (the longer, the stronger)
add salt

swish in your mouth for at least 1 minute each time and use as needed throughout the day.

  1. It sounds like you've got an infection. I had teeth pulled when I was younger and I was fine after a day.

You might go see your dentist. =/

Good luck with the sage salter water rinse!

  2. Salt water will draw the infection out of your mouth. I use it all the time for my teeth. Also cloves are great for pain relief. Crush some up or just put the whole clove next to the gum.

  3. yeah i know i have an infection problem is insurance wont cover a routine dental procedure and like everyone else not in the financial position to shell out 400$ They have me antibiotics so least I have those, lol, and I did try clove but the area is so tender it just burned like holy hell but as of right now it's better than it was. usually just in the morning.

  4. You can put a wet tea bag on the site... The tannins will help with the bleeding... Not sure about help for the swelling. This is what our dentist told my DH to do, it worked. I hope you feel better...

  6. Nicotex provides the nicotine that you normally get from cigarettes, but in a lower quantity than cigarettes.
It allows your body to gradually adjust to having less nicotine until you no longer need any and, thus, helps you quit smoking.Nicotex,Nicotex Cinnamon Flavour
